The Dislocated Worker Program, federally funded by the Department of Labor, identifies and provides assistance to dislocated workers throughout the eight county central Iowa area. In addition, the Dislocated Worker Program serves as a liaison for dislocated workers by presenting their needs to gain assistance, support and employment from service organizations, partner agencies and the business community.

The Dislocated Worker Program is federally funded under the Workforce Investment Act Title 1, in response to the needs of dislocated workers and employers in the eight counties of central Iowa.

Dislocated workers can take advantage of the following programs and services:

Training Programs - Tuition, books and fees for educational programs can be paid for at area colleges, schools and training facilities. Wage reimbursement to employers for hiring and training workers is also available with the On the Job Training Program.

Job Search - Job search assistance provides workers with information and knowledge to make the job search process easier.

Assessments for Career and Employment - Assessments are available to help identify career training possibilities or employment opportunities.

Support Services - Financial assistance for dependent care costs, transportation costs and miscellaneous services are available for dislocated workers receiving training assistance.
